Still sketching with multiple colored pens. This one I titled, Couple. After Thanksgiving I'll go out and get some different colors beside red, blue, green and black. I don't really know how light fast these things are. Most of what I read says these pens are not but we'll see.

A couple of new sketches

I've always thought of myself as pretty much a cartoonists and I've been doing mostly sketches these days, whether in the computer or on paper. Here are two new ones I just completed. The second sketch I thought about for some time as to whether I would post it or not because of its licentious subject matter (I don't want to offend anyone). Anyway, I posted it because I felt it was an interesting sketch and pretty funny also. The first sketch is inspired by a place I go past on my drive home from work. The building is an oddity; a sort of throw back to another time stuck in the middle of the usual strip mall chain stores that repeat themselves all across America.Saturday, November 14, 2009

Moving down the street
This is the next in a series of sketches meant to be displayed as a mosaic, one next to the other. I probably will have 12 drawings all together when I'm done. I seem to do one every morning, so this is not a particularly laborious task. You can see where the yellow car is joined with the car in the last post. I also lined the mortar lines up.

Urban scene 2
This is another sketch done with my wacom tablet. This is to be part of a series of sketches that when printed and placed end to end and top to bottom will make a large image of whatever dimension I decide to stop at, sort of mural like. I like the idea of mounting prints directly to the wall with small pins and avoiding the costly and bothersome process of framing everything. I saw a past show here in Washington D.C. of the work of Wolfgang Tilman and many of his photos were mounted directly to the wall with pins. I felt that was a terrific way to present the images. It is my understanding that a protective spray can be applied to block UV fading and protect the inks.
